About This Game

TANGENT

A difficult, physics-driven climbing game about flow, momentum, and mastering movement.

Grapple, swing, launch, and climb through a strange interconnected world. Discover shrines along the way to unlock new movement abilities and speed up, opening up faster routes and new ways to recover from disaster.

TANGENT is easy to pick up and difficult to master.

Grapple. Pump. Fly.

Latch onto grapple points and let physics do the rest.

Swing wide. Pump through the bottom of your arc to build speed. Release at the right moment and send yourself flying toward the next grapple.

Get to the Top

TANGENT takes place in one massive, handcrafted world built around a continuous climb.

Explore strange environments, discover 12 shrines, and gradually unlock new abilities that change how you move and increase your top speed.

Adjust your rope mid-swing. Influence your trajectory through the air. Slow down time when everything gets out of control. Extend your reach to make grapples you couldn't before.

Every new ability expands what you're capable of and what routes through the world are possible.

Falling Isn't Starting Over

You will miss grapples.

You will completely screw up a swing.

You will fall a long ways.

But TANGENT is built around recovering from mistakes. A bad launch can become a desperate grapple, a huge fall can send you somewhere unexpected, and sometimes a mistake creates a faster route than the one you intended.

Reactive Sound & Music

Reactive Audio

Music swells and react to your speed and movement, and grappling writes a tonal melody that fits with the music, subtly guiding you into rhythm and reinforcing the flow state. When everything clicks, you’ll hear it.

Find Your Flow

Movement gets faster as your abilities (and your own skill) improve.

What begins as a careful climb can eventually become a continuous chain of swings, launches, shortcuts, and split-second recoveries.

Learn the map, find better lines, push your time lower.

A first run may take over an hour, and a late game run may take less than 10 minutes.

Get to the top.

Then figure out how much faster you can do it.
