About This Game
You arrive at your missing brother’s home. All that remains of him in the apartment is his final experiment: a strange machine he built to immerse a human being in the depths of the subconscious.
By repairing the machine and stepping inside, you follow him into the Flickering World — a shifting, surreal realm built from memories, where reality dissolves at the edges and only sound remains trustworthy.
Find out what your brother was looking for. Find out why he never came back.
Sound is more than atmosphere in Sūblústrum — it shapes both the gameplay and the narrative.
Audio carries the story and drives the puzzles. Tune frequencies, follow voices through the static, and interpret what you hear. One entire location is a vast musical instrument that must be played and tuned before it will let you through.
Originally imagined as an interactive music experience by the dark ambient project Anthesteria, co-composer of the Metro 2033 soundtrack, Sublustrum evolved into a psychological adventure built around sound from its very first note.
Explore the Flickering World — a surreal realm shaped by a troubled mind: dreamlike liminal spaces, ornate Victorian machinery, and hollow places where the dark feels inhabited. The world shifts, overlaps, and rewrites itself as a fractured psyche struggles to hold together.
Sublustrum is styled to evoke images shaped by vintage lenses and the grain of aged film — a visual language inspired by early cinema that captures the ephemeral feeling of auteur cinema and fragile dreams.
Inspired by Jungian psychology and Kafkaesque fiction, Sublustrum unfolds like a session of psychoanalysis. It is a story about grief, the impossibility of changing the past, and the long, difficult road to accepting it.
Ultimately, it becomes a story about learning to let go of someone and discovering what remains of them — and of yourself — when you finally do.
Sublustrum is a full reimagining of the 2008 cult classic, winner of Best Adventure Game and Best Sound Design at the KRI Awards. Rebuilt from the ground up by its original creators in fully explorable 3D with strikingly beautiful visuals, it preserves the surreal vision and sound-first design that made the original legendary.
The team behind it includes veterans with experience on PUBG and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as well as at Ubisoft and Ice-Pick Lodge.
