About the Game

Rhythmic Retro Racer is a music-focused rhythm game built around carefully authored timing and atmosphere. The game takes place in a mysterious room inspired by 90s retro aesthetics, where you select VHS tapes and enter structured rhythm sequences. The room is not a menu — it is part of the narrative.
At its core, the gameplay focuses on precisely authored rhythm patterns, created using professional rhythm composition tools. Notes are not randomly generated or loosely synced. Each sequence is intentionally designed to match the structure, intensity, and flow of the soundtrack.
The soundtrack is a central pillar of the experience. Powerful synthwave tracks drive both gameplay and mood, while visuals, pacing, and tension are shaped around the music rather than reacting to it.
The game also features a dedicated Race Mode, expanding the experience beyond traditional rhythm gameplay. Players can choose between 8 different cars, compete across multiple race maps, earn money through races, and unlock new vehicles through an in-game purchase system. While still connected to the game’s retro atmosphere and soundtrack-driven identity, Race Mode offers a more arcade-focused experience built around speed, progression, and replayability.
As you progress, subtle narrative elements and unsettling moments begin to surface. Without explicit exposition, the game slowly reveals that what you are doing is not entertainment, but part of a larger, uneasy experiment. The sense of control fades, replaced by curiosity, tension, and discomfort.
Rhythmic Retro Racer blends rhythm gameplay with psychological tension, retro-futuristic atmosphere, and a mysterious narrative that unfolds through play — not dialogue.
This is a game about music, precision, and the feeling that something is not quite right.
