About the Demo

Freely explore and build in your starting star system in this singleplayer demo of Main Sequence. Progress through unlocking the first two tiers of technology, culminating in the Slipstream Drive that will enable you to travel and explore the full extent of the star system. Upgrade your ship, battle enemies, and work to build the start of your automation empire.

This is what will be waiting in the full game...

You are at the frontier of human-charted space in a small mining ship, tasked with expanding humanity's footprint amongst the stars. To succeed, you’ll need to collect resources, automate production, expand your base of operations, and research new technologies.

You start out with a single mining ship in a resource-rich asteroid belt. Use your scanners to find the best places to mine, and then refine the resources on your ship. Build a space station to set up a permanent base of operations which you can begin to expand and automate.

Onboard your stations, the factories you build are the heart of your industrial operation. Build machines, connect them with conveyor belts, and plan your production lines to keep everything flowing at full efficiency. Once that's running, that same logic extends across systems - automated supply routes between stations, and a fleet that keeps everything provisioned while you focus on expanding your operations.

Every ship and station is yours to design, inside and out. Module by module, you decide cargo capacity, reactor placement and weapons - whatever the situation calls for. Save designs to use again, share them with friends, or build freely in creative mode.

You'll need those weapons. Your industrial activity has woken something up - an ancient alien defence network that's identified you as a threat . Use your fleet to protect what you've built, or take the fight to them before the next wave arrives.

Research new technology with the items you produce. Each unlock opens up new ships, station modules, items and upgrades - everything you need to push further out. You will need to expand your industrial operations into new frontiers, but each new area will bring its own challenges and enemies to overcome. Use all of the tools at your disposal to build the ultimate battleship capable of handling any threat on your path to victory.

Venture into the unknown, with each procedurally generated star system offering unique logistic challenges to overcome. Explore wrecks, find new resources, and discover stellar phenomena such as black holes and neutron stars. Meet allies along the way as you uncover the different factions within humanity, and choose who to help as you build your legacy amongst the stars.

Play solo, or in co-op where each player is the captain of their own ship. Divide responsibilities however you like - one on logistics, another on defence, another out exploring - or work side by side on the same objective. Co-op opens up what’s possible. The bigger the crew, the bigger the empire.
