SimRail - The Railway Simulator: BR 285

Independent of the catenary. Same power, same character.

The BR 285 is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive from the TRAXX family, the diesel counterpart of the E186 TRAXX you already know from the game. Under the hood sits a 16-cylinder, 65-litre engine rated at 2200 kW (3000 hp), which powers a generator, and that in turn drives a modern electric traction system mounted on the bogies. The result: starting tractive effort on par with the electric version, enough to pull away from a standstill with a train weighing up to 3000 tonnes.

A 4000-litre fuel tank means long runs without stopping to refuel, and the top speed of 140 km/h is identical to the electric variant. Where the overhead line ends, the BR 285 keeps going.

This one is for players who value independence, including independence from the power supply. Pair the BR 285 with the Cargo Pack DLC to haul even more types of freight, and with the map expansions to cover even longer routes.
