2D Factory is a building and automation game set in an open pixel art world, viewed from above. Gather your first resources, craft your tools, and grow a small workshop into a sprawling industrial network. The satisfaction comes from designing a new production line and watching it come to life.

From your first tools to nuclear power

Build your factory around the Factory Engine and progress through five industrial tiers. From steam to electricity and nuclear technology, each stage brings new machines, materials, and possibilities. Your early setups become part of something much larger, with a final objective to work toward and the freedom to keep building afterward.

Set your ideas in motion

Connect machines with conveyors, organize fluid transport, and build the electrical networks that power your production. Refine your lines, solve bottlenecks, and find a layout that works for you. As the distances grow, rovers, boats, and trains offer new ways to explore the world and connect your facilities.

Discover what lies beyond the factory

Explore a procedural world of forests, deserts, mountains, tundra, and volcanic lands. Find new resources, solve puzzles at exploration sites, and unlock optional upgrades. Farming adds renewable production to your factory, while seasons and weather bring change to the surrounding landscape.

Keep the bigger picture in view

Your journal brings together recipes, progression, and planning tools. Check production statistics, locate your facilities on the map, and prepare your next production lines before building them. Construction blueprints let you reuse your layouts and expand more easily.

With no enemies or combat, build at your own pace amid animated machines, changing daylight, and relaxing music. Enjoy optimizing every route, or let production run while you explore. World settings help you shape the experience around the way you like to play.

Build on your own or together

Play solo or share an online cooperative world with up to eight players through Steam. Divide the work, explore together, and develop a shared factory. Autosaves and Steam Cloud help you return to your adventure, while the Sandbox mode unlocked at the end of progression offers a fresh space for your ideas.
