About This Game

You’re home alone at night when you’re jolted awake by a blaring news report. A dangerous maniac is on the loose, unstable, unpredictable, and already responsible for multiple murders in the area. Moments later, the power cuts out. Then you realize… you’re not alone. Someone is outside, and he’s looking for a way in.

Your house is too remote to simply run away. He would catch you. Your only hope is to stay hidden and try to find another way to escape.

“He is Outside” is a survival horror game where you must escape from a relentless serial killer invading your home. There are three possible escape routes, each requiring specific items that are randomly placed throughout the house. Every time the killer gets you, you wake up as if it were just a nightmare, only for it to begin again.

Features

A reactive, intelligent killer

The killer reacts dynamically to the environment. He becomes alerted by loud noises and footsteps, notices when doors or drawers have been opened or closed, responds to your flashlight, and even hears the sound of your breathing if you’re hiding in a closet.

Dynamic escape routes

Some escape routes can fail, since certain items are required for multiple paths. Using them for one escape may prevent another. If you’re not careful, the killer can also destroy essential objects, forcing you to adapt.

Escape Journal

Your journal keeps track of discovered escape routes and enemy behaviors. It shows possible escapes, which items each one requires, which items you’ve already placed, and which routes have failed. Enemy behaviors are only logged after you witness them. While this knowledge may not save you in the current run, it will carry over to the next, helping you progress further each time.

Randomized item locations

The items required for each escape route are randomly spawned, making every playthrough feel unique. Some spawn locations are inside rooms that must be unlocked first.

Directional and floor-based sound design

Enemy footsteps sound muffled when he’s in another room and change depending on whether he’s on a different floor, giving you vital audio cues for survival.

Permadeath

If the killer catches you, the run ends and you start again from the beginning with new randomized item locations. Only your journal persists, preserving what you’ve learned.
